Subaio launches with ABN AMRO in the Netherlands
Subaio’s subscription management feature has gone live with ABN AMRO, making it the first white-label subscription management service for banks to launch in the Netherlands.
Partnership overview
The integration was announced through ABN AMRO’s Grip app, which provides customers visibility into their spending patterns. Roland Booijen, Director of Apps & Digital Innovation at ABN AMRO, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, stating the feature offers “customers easy insight into their subscriptions and recurring fixed costs.”
Thomas Laursen, Subaio’s CEO, highlighted the significance of the Dutch launch, calling ABN AMRO “an innovative bank partner with a razor-sharp focus on customer needs.”
How it works
The Grip app features Subaio’s technology to help users identify all recurring payments in one location. Users can cancel subscriptions directly within the interface and receive alerts about payment changes.
The platform uses pattern-detection algorithms that analyze user transactions — examining frequency, amount, and merchant information — to identify recurring payments automatically. The system continuously improves as patterns are applied across the user base.
Market impact
The Grip app serves millions of Dutch customers from multiple banks including ING, Rabobank, and others. Since launch, tens of thousands of users have accessed their subscription overviews and initiated cancellations.
This represented Subaio’s seventh bank partnership. Previous launches included Nordic bank Nordea (November 2018) and challenger bank Lunar. Analysis of five billion transactions revealed the average user maintains eight subscriptions, saving approximately €213 per cancellation through Subaio’s service.
